Community Service Bursary Volunteer Hours Record

The registered community service bursary organization is responsible for supervising and logging the student’s volunteer service and submitting a record of hours worked before September 30 of the year the bursary will be issued. To confirm your student’s volunteer service, please submit the online form below.

What is the Community Service Bursary?

The Community Service Bursary is awarded to post-secondary students who, during high school, volunteered a minimum 30 hours to a maximum 150 hours at a not-for-profit organization which is registered with the bursary program. View Community Service Bursary – List of Registered Organizations

Students may accumulate volunteer hours until June 30th in year they graduate Grade 12. The bursary, up to maximum $750 calculated at a rate of $5 per volunteer hour, will be credited to the student’s post-secondary account in November of first year.

Acceptable volunteer activities include coaching, tutoring or mentoring children and youth in sports, at a library, camp, church or after school; volunteering at a hospital or other health facility, or providing non-profit or community service, i.e. school breakfast or food program, office support or labour assistant, special event organization.

What do I need to complete the online form?

T o ensure volunteer hours are applied fairly and correctly to the individual registered with the Community Service Bursary program, you will be asked to provide the following information about the student:

  • Student’s full name and contact information
  • High school name and graduation year
  • Post-secondary institution the student plans to attend
  • Total hours completed and both the start and end date of the period worked
