COVID-19 Special Situation Fund

The application period for the special situation fund for organizations closed on July 3, 2020. Applications are now being assessed and successful applicants will be contacted.

The COVID-19 Special Situation Fund for businesses and organizations provided funding to businesses, community groups and non-government organizations that have experienced urgent income loss as a result of COVID-19 and are not eligible for other federal and provincial funding support. 

This was a temporary program put in place to support organizations that have been significantly affected by COVID-19, have an urgent need, and are not eligible for federal or provincial financial support. The first round of special situation funding for businesses and organizations closed on April 15, 2020.

Additional funding for community groups

The Special Situation Fund re-opened with new criteria to assist community groups. Organizations could apply online from June 22 to July 3, 2020.

The COVID-19 Special Situations Fund for Organizations will provide funding to community organizations including charities and non-profit organizations that have experienced urgent financial impact as a result of COVID-19. This is a temporary program put in place to support organizations that have been significantly affected by COVID-19 and have an urgent need.

Is my organization eligible?

Your organization may be eligible if it is experiencing an urgent financial impact between March 16, 2020 and July 16, 2020 due to the COVID-19 public health state of emergency in Prince Edward Island.

  • Community organizations must have been operating in PEI as of December 31, 2019.
  • Only one application per organization will be accepted.
  • You must keep supporting documents proving your eligibility for the program for a period of three years following approval to the program for audit and compliance purposes.
  • You must apply by July 3, 2020.

What happens after I apply?

A special committee will review the applications. Priority will be given to organizations in the most urgent need. A representative may be in touch if there are further questions. If the application is successful, we will ask you to provide information to allow direct deposit into your bank account.
