Cyberviolence Prevention Grant
Overview
The Interministerial Women’s Secretariat works in partnership with community organizations to develop projects, programs and services that promote safety, well-being, and equality across Prince Edward Island.
In today’s digital environment, cyberviolence—including cyberbullying, online harassment, and technology-facilitated abuse—poses a significant risk to youth and communities.
The Cyberviolence Prevention Grant will provide project funding to community organizations for innovative initiatives that enhance awareness, education and action toward preventing cyberviolence in Prince Edward Island.
Project funding requests can be up to $20,000, any proposal requests in excess of this amount will not be considered for funding.
What are the funding objectives?
The objective of the Cyberviolence Prevention Grant is to provide project funding to community organizations for innovative projects that will:
- Enhance awareness, education and prevention of cyberviolence
- Promote safe, respectful and responsible online behaviour
- Equip youth with tools to prevent and respond to cyberviolence and its impacts
- Strengthen community capacity to address cyberviolence
- Support early intervention and trauma-informed responses
- Address the disproportionate impacts of cyberviolence on vulnerable populations, including girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth
Projects should align with the goals of the Provincial Youth Cyberviolence Prevention Strategy, including promoting safer online environments and empowering youth.
What are the eligibility requirements?
- Applicants must be incorporated non-profit organizations located in Prince Edward Island.
- Organizations must have the capacity to enter into a legal agreement to receive funding (i.e., a provincial incorporation number, insurance coverages and good standing with Workers Compensation Board). Please see a sample of the contract
- Organizations with approved projects will be required to sign a project contract and adhere to its requirements, including reporting.
- Projects are anticipated to begin in Fall 2026 and must be completed by March 15, 2027. Ongoing or multi-year core funding requests will not be considered.

All budgets must clearly demonstrate how proposed expenditures are related to the project.
Eligible expenditures include:
- Salaries and benefits
- Administrative costs associated with the project (up to 15% of total budget)
- Honoraria
- Professional fees related to the project
- Facility rental and utilities
- Office equipment
- Materials and supplies
- Publicity and promotion
- In-province travel (PEI)
- Evaluation
What types of projects are eligible?
Eligible projects must focus on the prevention of cyberviolence and may include:
- Youth-focused education and awareness programs
- Digital literacy and online safety training
- Development of tools, resources or curricula
- Peer-led or youth engagement initiatives
- Community campaigns promoting healthy online behaviours
- Training for educators, caregivers and service providers
- Initiatives addressing specific forms of cyberviolence (e.g., cyberbullying, image-based abuse, online harassment)
- Projects supporting vulnerable or underserved populations
How will applications be assessed?
Applications will be assessed and graded on a point system based on the applicant’s ability to communicate how it meets the objectives of the funding program.
Evaluation criteria include:
- Prevention focus:
Does the proposal show a strong focus on effective cyberviolence prevention measures? (15 points) - Alignment with program and strategy objectives:
Does the project support safer online environments and youth empowerment? (10 points) - Project clarity and workplan:
Does the proposal clearly describe the project activities, workplan and intended outcomes? (15 points) - Feasibility and likelihood of success:
Are timelines realistic and goals achievable? (15 points) - Budget clarity:
Is the budget clear and appropriate for the proposed activities? (10 points) - Evidence-informed approach:
Does the proposal demonstrate evidence-based or promising practices to prevent cyberviolence or reduce harm? (15 points) - Equity and inclusion:

Does the proposal demonstrate collaboration with relevant partners? (10 points)Note: For each project you must submit a minimum of one letter of support from stakeholders and/or project partners to be considered for funding.
What is the application process
- Proposals must be received by 4:00 pm, July 31, 2026. Any submissions received after this will not be considered.
- Applications/proposals must meet the eligibility requirements (see Eligibility Requirements above).
- Applications/proposals that do not meet the eligibility requirements will be immediately disqualified.
- Applications/proposals will be assessed and graded on a point system based on the applicant’s ability to communicate how it meets the objectives of the funding program as expressed by the assessment criteria.
Successful applicants will be notified by September 30, 2026.
Applicants must submit a completed application form, including:
- Project description and rationale
- Workplan and timeline
- Target population(s)
- Expected outcomes and evaluation plan
- Detailed project budget that clearly outlines all expenses and revenues for the project (this would include other sources of funding and/or in-kind support)
- Minimum of one letter of support for your project from stakeholders and/or project partners in order to be considered for funding.
Reporting requirements
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Sign a project agreement
- Submit progress and final reports

Please submit your completed application form by 4:00 pm on July 31, 2026. All submissions are time stamped, and any submissions received after this will be disqualified.

Not all qualified applications are guaranteed to receive funding. These are one-time only grants. As determined by the review committee, approved funding amounts may be different from proposal amounts.
