Energy Efficient Equipment Rebate Application
If you install ENERGY STAR® certified heating systems in your home, you can apply for the Energy Efficient Equipment Rebate. Part of your costs will be returned for approved equipment such as a heat pump, water-saving device, biomass heating device or other energy saving product.

What do I need to complete the online application?
You will be asked to provide:
- Contact information
- Property tax number. You can find this number on your property tax bill or search the civic address locator offered on the form.
- You must be the registered property owner to apply.
- Equipment installed in rental properties may require additional documentation. Contact efficiencyPEI@gov.pe.ca for assistance.
- For equipment installed in businesses, non-profits, non-residential buildings, tourism accommodations and short-term rental accommodations (defined as rented for less than one year at a time), apply for a Business Energy Rebate instead.
- Uploaded documents as follows:
- Payee Registration form (including electronic payment/banking information).
- This form allows the rebate to be deposited in your bank account. Make sure you fill in your full name, including your middle name, your date of birth, mailing address, phone, email address, then print it off and sign, scan and upload. Digital signatures are not accepted at this time
- Paid in full sales receipt (electronic or scanned copy) for equipment and installation indicating where you purchased the unit(s) and the make and model number of each unit installed. You must apply within a year of installation.
- Certificate of Compliance if you are applying for a heat pump rebate. Ask your Network of Excellence installer for this document.
- Payee Registration form (including electronic payment/banking information).
Islanders with an annual household income of $35,000 or less may be eligible for a larger rebate.
- To apply for the low-income rebate, attach your July GST/HST Notice
- Make sure the notice you upload includes the front page with name/address and the second page with family income and marital status.

Tips for a successful application
- Applications that contain all the necessary information can be processed within 4 weeks. Incomplete applications may delay or disqualify your application.
- Please ensure all your uploaded files have good resolution/focus and includes entire document with nothing cropped out. If you are having trouble submitting the online form, visit our submitting online forms and resizing photos for online forms pages for tips.
Disclaimer
- This program application is for residential equipment upgrades. For business upgrades and equipment installed in tourism accommodations or short term rentals, refer to the Business Energy Rebates Program.
- New homes are not eligible. Buildings must be inhabited for more than six months to be eligible. If you are planning to build a new home, learn more about our New Home Construction Incentives.
- A random selection of files are selected for inspection. If your equipment needs to have inspection, efficiencyPEI staff will contact you to set up an appointment.
