Give input to regulations of the Post-Secondary Institutions Sexual Violence Policies Act
The Department of Education and Lifelong Learning is seeking your input on the proposed general regulations for the Post-Secondary Institutions Sexual Violence Policies Act.
In summer 2018, department staff consulted with stakeholders to receive feedback and guidance in developing the Post-Secondary Institutions Sexual Violence Policies Act. The legislation requires a post-secondary institution to develop, implement, review and amend (as necessary) its sexual violence policy. The Act was passed in the provincial legislature in December 2018 and will be proclaimed when regulations are in place.
In September 2019, stakeholder consultations informed the development of draft regulations. Prince Edward Island is now on track to be the first province in Atlantic Canada to have legislation and general regulations on this important issue.
Draft general regulations
Written comments on the general regulations are welcome until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019.
