At Learn Day on September 30, 2017, the Learning Partners Advisory Council launched the Learn Grant initiative to help support ideas and collaborations to promote learning in PEI, for all ages, in all settings. Islanders were asked to submit proposals based on their ideas and projects.
Learning happens in many settings – we live in a lifelong learning society. Learn Grants are intended to support any PEI-based collaborations or project focused on learning – in all fields, across the life span, and across PEI communities.
The grants were set at $500 to $1,000 for each project, with $10,000 to be awarded in total, supporting up to 20 different projects.
What information was requested about the Learn idea or project?
Applicants were asked to clearly outline their proposal with regard to each of the following criteria, using the online application form provided:
- Idea (30%): Describe the project and how it will contribute to or expand ideas about learning in PEI.
- Achievability: (30%): Include an action plan, timeline, and outline of partners who will work on the project, as well as the amount requested ($500 - $1,000).
- Impact (30%): Outline the short-term and long-term benefits of the project, for people and communities in PEI, how it connects to / supports other projects, and how it will be measured.
- Additional information (10%): Strengthen the application by ensuring the project is clear and viable, and by outlining examples of how the project will invite new partners and people to PEI learning initiatives, and/or create new and meaningful learning opportunities.
Although not required, applicants were permitted to upload additional documents.
Who evaluated the applications?
Applications were evaluated by a volunteer team from the Learning Partners Advisory Council and Education 2020. Applicants’ names and affiliations and those of partners remained anonymous during the evaluation process.
What was the deadline?
Submissions closed on November 9, 2017. All applicants were notified of the outcome of their proposals in December 2017. Information on approved projects will be posted in January 2018.
