Pre-Budget Consultations for the 2025-2026 Operating Budget
Pre-budget consultations are now open, and this is your opportunity to get involved.The operating budget helps government manage resources, including people, programs and services, so that communities have the appropriate supports and tools while being fiscally responsible. Engaging Islanders in conversations about their priorities will help ensure the 2025-26 operating budget moves us closer to a brighter, bolder and better future for all.
How you can participate
Islanders are invited to get involved and share ideas on the direction for the upcoming budget:
- Complete the pre-budget consultation survey in English or French
- Email your thoughts, ideas and possible solutions to budgetsubmissions@gov.pe.ca
- Join one of the virtual, bilingual consultations on Zoom. Those on the call can listen and contribute their thoughts as part of the discussion and/or make a five-minute presentation to the Minister of Finance. Email budgetsubmissions@gov.pe.ca to register; please inform us if you plan to present and if you will participate in French.

The deadline to complete the survey and provide submissions is November 15, 2024.
Submissions will be provided to the responsible department(s).
PEI’s Economy Today
After recording the fastest economic growth amongst provinces in 2023, Prince Edward Island has seen solid economic performance in 2024. Pressures in the Island economy are easing as inflation continues to slow, and interest rates continue to fall. Some economic highlights include:
- Population has increased by 2.8 percent to 178,550 people through July 1, 2024
- Employment has increased by 5.4 per cent through July
- Inflation has eased to 2.4 per cent through July
- Housing starts have increased by over 60 percent through the second quarter
