Register or Renew a Sole Proprietorship in PEI

In PEI, you can operate a sole proprietorship without registering a business name only if it is operated under your own name.  If a prefix or suffix of any kind is added to your own name to create the business name, you are required to register your business with the Province of PEI in accordance with the PEI Partnership Act.

A business registration is valid for three years from the registration date.  At that time, you are required to renew your business registration.

Before you register your business, you may want to confirm your proposed business name is available. To review current names of Prince Edward Island companies, search the Corporate/Business Names Registry
