Sherwood Elementary School Closure Child Care Allowance
Funding is available to support child care fees for parents or guardians with children at Sherwood Elementary School of up to $30 per child, per day during the upcoming extended school closure dates listed below.
Sherwood Elementary School is expected to close during the following dates pending any construction delays:
- March 14, 24 and 25, 2025 to move materials over to the new school building
- June 9-26, 2025 for demolition of the old school building
Who is Eligible to Participate?
Parents or guardians with children at Sherwood Elementary School during school closure dates. Applicants must:
- Be a resident of Prince Edward Island; Be the parent or guardian of the child;
- Have a school aged child between 5-12 years of age attending Sherwood Elementary School impacted by the extended school closures; and,
- Plan to enroll a child in a licensed school age child care program or seek private child care.
How do I Apply?
For licensed school age child care:
- Parents or guardians must register their child, or children, in a licensed school age child care program.
- Operators will be reimbursed directly by the Province after completing the Operator Child Care Allowance Program Expense online application.
For private child care:
- Parents or guardians will be required to complete three steps
- They must apply for the Child Care Allowance through the Parent/Guardian Child Care Allowance online application.
- They must also complete a Payee Registration form and submit a void cheque OR correspondence from their financial institution for direct deposit as a part of their online application.
- Parents or guardians will be reimbursed and must provide details about their child care costs, including a signed receipt by completing the Parent/Guardian Child Care Allowance Program Expense online application.
When is my application due?
For licensed school age child care:
Children must be registered in a licensed school age child care program prior to the anticipated closure dates to be eligible.
