Employee Assistance Program

EAP exists to help employees solve problems as early as possible before they seriously affect self, family, and work performance. If you are an employee or a retired employee of the Government of PEI, you are eligible for EAP services. Your immediate family members who reside with you are also eligible.

French Language Services

French Language Services offers courses at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, with the addition of maintenance and grammar courses for bilingual employees. The training is available to classified and casual civil service employees, including employees of the health sector. Classes are generally held one night per week for a total of 11 weeks per semester in Charlottetown and Summerside. Other locations such as Montague and Deblois are possible where minimum registration requirements are met.

Diversity and Cultural Training

The PEI Public Service Commission developed a diversity awareness training series to meet the needs of an increasing diverse workforce and Island population. This training is intended to increase the understanding of diversity by identifying and clarifying definitions of diversity and diversity related key terms. There are five (5) training modules currently available, with all five (5) modules developed for PEI public service managers and employees.

Occupational Health and Safety

The Occupational Health & Safety section of the Public Service Commission strives to maintain a workplace that is safe and healthy for all employees. The primary goal is to promote accident and illness prevention.

Development and Training Fund

The purpose of the Development and Training Fund is to provide the workplace with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skill base necessary to provide excellence in public service.

Career Planning and Learning Plan

Career planning is the important process of determining the ideal career for you and figuring out how to turn it into reality. Employees can use career planning tools to identify their personal career goals and ways to achieve those goals.
