Le contenu suivant est seulement disponible en anglais.

Dear Premier,

Please accept this letter on behalf of the Department of Economic Development, Trade, and Artificial Intelligence as our response to your mandate letter to all Ministers on March 3, 2026.

The Department of Economic Development, Trade, and Artificial Intelligence plays a central role in enabling the Government to deliver on its priorities by fostering strong, sustainable, and diversified economic growth. By continuing to focus on strengthening the Island’s economic base, we help generate the revenues required to support government investments in health care, energy transformation, land stewardship, and affordability initiatives. A growing economy drives job creation, supports long‑term economic stability, and provides Islanders with the confidence that provincial services and programs can be maintained well into the future.

This letter reflects the Government of Prince Edward Island’s integrated approach to policy and service delivery, as set out in the Speech from the Throne, with an emphasis on disciplined execution, cross‑government alignment, and measurable outcomes for Islanders.

Specific Actions for the Next 12–18 Months

  • Advance improved cell service across PEI by installing new mini‑towers on government‑owned infrastructure.
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of all programming to ensure they are best aligned with the current needs of businesses; ensuring support is available to enable businesses to adopt artificial intelligence and increase productivity.
  • Continue support for export‑oriented industries navigating global trade volatility.
  • Continue work on modernizing trade policy in Prince Edward Island, including collaboration with colleagues across government and Canada to reduce internal trade barriers.
  • Support growth of the cultural sector, including film and creative industries.
  • Strengthen collaboration with industry partners to identify growth opportunities in key sectors such as aerospace and defence, bioscience, cleantech, information technology and advanced manufacturing.

This work will be carried out in close collaboration with colleagues across government, recognizing that progress on shared priorities depends on coordinated action. Through alignment and disciplined execution, we will continue to deliver meaningful outcomes for Islanders.

Sincerely,

Hon. Jenn Redmond
