Early Learning and Child Care Centre Inspections
The Early Learning and Child Care Board issues a licence to a child care facility based on requirements specified in the Early Learning and Child Care Act. As part of the licensing process, Environmental Health inspects child care facilities and reports back to the Board. Activities under this program include consultations, plan approval, food safety, infection control, and water quality.
What happens if a facility does not pass inspection?
The operator is given a defined period of time to correct the violation. If the violation is corrected prior to the follow-up inspection, the operator is considered to be in compliance and no further action is required. If the violation is not corrected, a second follow-up inspection is required. Environmental Health consults the Early Learning and Child Care Board if issues of non-compliance continue.
How do I report a concern about a child care facility?
