Register a Snowmobile and Other Off-Highway Motor Vehicles

All off-highway vehicles (OHV) must be registered annually. :

• The registration for a snowmobile expires on November 30th of each year. 
• The registration for an off-highway vehicle expires on the birthday of the registered owner (new).

Off-Highway Vehicles

• As of November 1, 2024, off-highway vehicles are to be registered on an annual basis. 
• OHV owners will pay an annual fee of $50.00 on the owner’s birthday, a new plate will be provided that must be always displayed at all times.
• When renewing an OHV registration, the owner will have the current OHV registration certificate and driver's license to complete registration.
• When registering an OHV for the first time (i.e. following purchase of an OHV), the owner will have the registration certificate (signed by the previous owner), a bill of sale, and valid driver’s license to complete registration. 
• When an off-highway vehicle is sold or transferred, the plate will remain with the person who is selling the vehicle rather than being left on the vehicle. When an off-highway vehicle is registered for the first time, a plate accompanies that registration. That plate will now remain with you as the registered owner of that license plate.

Expiry Transition for Off-Highway Vehicles

Off-Highway vehicle owners who currently have a registered "no-expiry" plate will have until April 30, 2025 to exchange their registration and receive a new OHV plate and registration sticker.  

Safety Considerations for Snowmobiles or other Off-Highway Vehicles

• Proper safety training will ensure you can ride your off-highway vehicle with confidence and safety.
• Remember, you cannot operate an off-highway vehicle or permit any other person to operate the vehicle without a certificate of registration.
• If you are driving an off-highway vehicle and you are stopped by a peace officer, you must produce your registration permit, if requested.
• To cross any road or highway on an off-highway vehicle or operate an off-highway vehicle in the ditch of a road or highway, you must have a valid driver's license.
• Driving an off-highway vehicle on the shoulder of a road is not permitted.
