efficiencyPEI offers rebates for the installation of ENERGY STAR® certified heating equipment including heat pumps, water saving devices, biomass heating devices, and other energy saving products.
How do I apply for the rebate?
1. If you are interested in financing for the up-front costs, learn more about the energy efficiency loan program.
2. Before applying, review the eligibility criteria in the application and rebate amounts.
- All heat pump supply and installations must be completed by a Network of Excellence contractor to be eligible for a rebate. All services (heat pump supply, installation, electrical and refrigeration) must be provided by the same Network of Excellence contractor.
- There is a limit to how many rebates you can get from efficiencyPEI for your property, so if you have had rebates before, check with efficiencyPEI on how much you may be eligible for.
- New construction is not eligible. Buildings must be inhabited for more than six months to be eligible.
3. After your equipment is purchased and installed, collect the information and documents to include with your application.
- If you have an annual household income of $35,000 or less, you may qualify for a larger rebate. Include your proof of income with your application. This is your GST Credit Notice showing your net family income, marital status and province of residence.
- Collect dated paid sales receipts showing where unit was purchased and the make and model numbers of unit installed
- All heat pump installations require a certificate of compliance from the electrical permit. Ask your installer for this document.
- You need to be the property owner to apply. To fill out your application form, you will need your property tax number. This is also known as a property identification number or a PID. It can be found on your property tax bill. It can also be found at the address locator page.
4. Apply online or mail or drop off your application form to efficiencyPEI with the required documents.
Applications that contain all the necessary information are processed within 8-10 weeks. Incomplete applications may delay or disqualify your application.
