With 63 municipalities across Prince Edward Island electing councillors next month, Samantha Murphy says it’s a great time to stop thinking about getting involved – and start doing it.

“There are more opportunities than ever to be involved in public life in our province – either by nominating or voting,” said Murphy,  provincial government’s manager of Municipal Affairs.

To run for a council seat in the November 5 election you must file your nomination form through your local municipal election office. The deadline is Friday (October 19) at 2 p.m.

For more information about nominations contact your municipal election office.

Even if now isn’t the right time for you to run for office, everyone has a role to play . Murphy said there are more opportunities than ever to vote.

There will be at least one advance poll before the election, and there will be polling all day on November 5. Look for the election notice from your municipality.
