Apply for a Plumbing Contractor's Licence

Any company conducting plumbing services in Prince Edward Island requires a valid PEI Plumbing Contractor's Licence. In addition, the owner or at least one employee of the company must hold a valid journeyman’s certificate in plumbing or a work permit issued in accordance with the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualification Act.

A plumbing contractor's licence is valid for a maximum one-year period. All licences expire March 31^st. (A licence issued in January must be renewed within three months as it will expire March 31^st.)

Plumbing services in PEI are regulated under the authority of the Environmental Protection Act. For detailed information, refer to A Code for Plumbing Services Regulations. 
 

What do I need to complete this online form?

You must provide business contact information and the following:

• the name and trade qualification number for each plumber covered under this licence. Only certified plumbers, from jurisdictions accepted by the Province of Prince Edward Island, and listed under this licence are authorized to sign off a plumbing permit.
• You will be asked to verify access to the relevant plumbing code. Without access to the code, your licence may be denied or suspended.
• You must submit full payment with the application.

You can complete this form in less than 30 minutes, depending on the number of plumbers you are adding to the form.

What is the fee?

The annual fee for a Plumbing Contractor's Licence is $75.00.

How long will it take to process my application?

Allow one week to process your application. The licence will be forwarded to the address you provide on the form.
