Children's Food Security Program
The Department of Social Development and Housing is offering support for Island families that are facing food insecurity. If your family is facing challenges securing healthy food, this program can help. We provide pre-cooked, reheatable meals for children that are delivered directly to your home throughout July and August.
Who is Eligible for the Food Security Program?
Any family facing challenges with food security is eligible to receive meals for children. Children must be able to consume solid food.
Meals will be delivered to varied types of housing (apartments, duplex, detached, single family, day programs, etc.). Please provide detailed delivery instructions pertaining to your type of accommodation. We can also arrange delivery to childcare locations or workplaces if necessary. Some food vendors have agreed to a pickup option for meals; this will vary depending on location.
How Do I Apply?

How and When is the Service Provided?
Meals are sourced from local restaurants or catering companies and delivered to the address provided on the application. Each child will be provided with five (5) meals per week; three (3) on Tuesday and two (2) on Thursday.
Families who have already registered for the program do not have to re-register each week. You will continue to receive meals until you opt-out or the program concludes. Families can register at any time; meal orders are finalized on the Tuesday prior to the delivery week. If that deadline is missed, your information will be added to the order on the following week.
Meal delivery will occur between the hours of 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM on the following dates:
