COVID-19 Workforce Integration Fund
The Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture is presently accepting proposals from interested organizations for the delivery of innovative projects that encourage workforce integration to support unemployed and underemployed individuals who have been directly impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic transition into, or back into, the Prince Edward Island labour market.
Through the Prince Edward Island COVID-19 Workforce Integration Fund, successful applicants of this Call for Proposals (CFP) will create projects designed to assist unemployed or underemployed individuals acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to transition to sustainable employment, career advancement and/or entrepreneurship opportunities.
Proposals under the fund should support one of the target groups particularly impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic including but not exclusive to women, youth, members of the Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) community, newcomers, persons with disabilities and/or social assistance recipients.
Who is Eligible?
To be eligible for consideration under this Call for Proposals, applicants should fall under one of the following categories:
- Community-based organizations;
- For-profit businesses;
- Not-for-profit businesses;
- Sector Councils
- Educational institutions, public or private
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate in their proposal their expertise and experience working with various client target groups. Further, the proposal must demonstrate the Applicant’s expertise and experience in supporting clients who require career, employment, or entrepreneurial supports, or else it must demonstrate the Applicants ability to partner with an experienced delivery organization.
To be eligible to participate in projects approved under the COVID-19 Workforce Integration Fund, individuals must be:
- Unemployed or underemployed;
- Legally authorized to work in Canada; and
- live and have a home in Prince Edward Island, but do not have to be a citizen or a permanent resident
How Does the Program Work?
The COVID-19 Workforce Integration Fund was designed to have maximum flexibility in project design for Applicants, however eligible project activities could include;
- Specialized activities designed to develop employability skills and essential skills;
- Paid work experiences;
- Entrepreneurial information, skills and exposure;
- Mentoring and coaching;
- Support for employers in hiring, mentoring and retaining targeted clients
Priority may be given to projects that demonstrate an ability to permanently connect participants to the labour force within the project’s timeline.
Each project approved will receive up to 100% funding for eligible project costs up to a maximum of $500,000, and approved projects may run until June 30th 2021.

- Submit a project proposal prepared in accordance with Workforce Integration Fund Guidelines
What is the Deadline?
Applications for funding under the COVID-19 Workforce Integration Fund can be submitted until 2pm December 4th 2020.
