Register to Receive Government Payment
To receive payments from the provincial government, individuals and businesses must first register as a Payee in the government payment system. Registration is required for any cheque or direct-deposit payment processed through the Province’s financial accounting system, including, but not limited to:
- Financial aid;
- Rebates or grant payments;
- Payment on claims submitted for approved expenses; and
- Payment for goods or services provided to government.
Note: This does not apply to payments issued through a government agency, i.e. Innovation PEI, Health PEI, etc. These payments are processed through a separate system, and you must contact the appropriate funding agency directly.
Why do I need to register as a Payee?
The Payee Registration Form collects current and historical contact and banking information so electronic payments can be accurately processed and deposited directly to your bank account. To ensure each transaction is accurate and timely, it is your responsibility to update this information any time there is a change in your name, contact details or banking information. Failure to update this information may result in payments being issued under a previous name, mailed to a previous address or paid to a former bank account. In some cases, funds may not be recoverable.
What do I need to complete the online form?
You will be asked to specify whether you are registering as an individual or business, and to provide:
- Full legal name (first, middle and last);
- Date of birth;
- Mailing address;
- Contact information, including a phone number and email address;
- Bank account details for direct deposit, along with a copy of either a void cheque or a letter from your financial institution confirming account information, including bank name, branch, transit and account number (a text box and upload field are provided)
- You may also be asked for additional key identifiers to prevent duplication of applicants previously registered as payees, which may include:
- Previous name(s) or address(es)
