Mental Health and Addictions Open Access Counselling

Mental Health and Addictions walk-in clinics are now offered through Open Access Counselling at Community Mental Health and Addictions locations across the province.

Get mental health and addiction support when you need it.

At Open Access Counselling you can speak with a mental health or addictions counsellor. No appointment or referral is required. Simply drop in during the hours listed below.

Sessions last up to 60 minutes. There may be a small wait when you arrive, but you will be connected with a counsellor as soon as possible.

What to expect

  • Client-centered approach: Your session focuses on your concerns and needs at the time. You are in control, guiding the appointment towards what matters most to you.
  • Collaborative goal setting: You work with a clinician to set clear goals for the session and beyond, focusing on achievable steps for your wellness journey.
  • Strengths-based approach: We build on your strengths and what has worked well for you in the past, supporting your recovery in a positive and empowering way.
  • Exploration and planning: We will work together to identify resources, strengths and strategies to help you move forward and continue to feel supported outside of the session.
  • Evidence-based support: Open Access is grounded in evidence-based practices, meaning the intervention provided is supported by research and shown to be effective.
  • Flexibility: You do not need to commit to attending a certain number of sessions. You get to decide when and how often you access support.

Further assessment, use of different approaches to therapy, or referral to a specific service can be carried out if you and your clinician agree they are necessary.
