When an application for an environmental impact assessment is received, a technical committee with the Department of Communities, Land and Environment reviews it for completeness. Additional information may, or may not, be requested.
The permit will help to ensure that all facilities operate in accordance with provincial regulations and that the release of pollutants is minimized.
You need an Air Quality Permit if your company operates any of the following:
- fuel burning equipment (utility and non-utility boilers)
- incinerators
- industrial sources (e.g., asphalt plants), or
- used oil burners

If there is a credit to your property tax on your statement of account, you can either use the credit towards the next year’s property taxes or request a property tax refund.
