Joint Consortium for School Health
The Pan-Canadian Joint Consortium for School Health (JCSH) supports comprehensive school health initiatives across Canada. Its members include health and education representatives responsible for school health from each province and territory (except Québec), and the federal government. The JCSH is housed in PEI from 2010-2020.
The Joint Consortium for School Health helps to:
- strengthen cooperation among governments, agencies, departments, and others in support of healthy schools;
- build the capacity of the health and education sectors to work together more effectively and efficiently; and
- promote understanding of, and support for, the concept and benefits of comprehensive school health initiatives.
The JCSH has developed a number of resources and toolkits which are intended to support schools in creating a healthy school environment.
The Healthy School Planner helps schools assess their current health promotion environment and to help plan to make improvements.
The Positive Metal Health Toolkit helps schools promote positive mental health within the whole school environment.
The Youth Engagement Toolkit is a ‘how-to’ guide on supporting youth engagement within schools, school boards, government, and community organizations.
