Municipal Affairs encourages you to first contact your municipality if you have a concern or issue. Municipalities have bylaws and policies to deal with conflict of interest, code of conduct, processes, elections, and other topics.

What does Municipal Affairs do?
Municipal Affairs Division provides support to municipalities in the following areas:
- Municipal restructuring
- Municipal elections
- Municipal governance
- Municipal financials
Municipal Affairs collects and maintains information regarding municipal bylaws, financing, boundaries, and a range of other municipal processes. Municipal Affairs posts financial statements of municipalities (e.g., the yearly budget and audited financial statements).

What issues does the Island Regulatory Appeals Commission (IRAC) handle?
IRAC handles:
- Lands Protection Act administration and Planning Act appeals.
- The regulation of water and wastewater utilities in Prince Edward Island excluding municipal utilities operating in Charlottetown, Summerside, Stratford and Cornwall.
- IRAC reviews municipal restructuring applications.
