You can adopt a child of any age. This includes adoptions of children living in PEI as well as international adoptions. Before you are able to adopt a child, you must first call to have a family assessment by a social worker.
There are children living in foster care in PEI in who need safe, loving, and stable families to adopt them. If you are interested in adopting one of these children, please call the number listed below.
If you are pregnant and choose to have your baby adopted, you can do so. You can arrange to have your child adopted by a family you know or a family that you will not know and they won’t know you.
You can adopt a child from another country if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. To bring your adoptive child to Canada, you must sponsor the child for immigration.
There are two processes that you must go through when you adopt a child from another country: the adoption process and the immigration sponsorship process. You need to know about both.
