Planting and tending trees is one of the tools that can be used to combat rising greenhouse gas levels because trees use and store tremendous amounts of carbon over their lifespan. This year the Province of Prince Edward Island is seeking to return approximately 175 ha of old fields and marginal lands to forest cover by planting native tree species suited to those sites.
