Any community or organization with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for public use is encouraged to register the life-saving device with Emergency Health Services. The AED registry allows bystanders and emergency responders to quickly locate the closest defibrillator when someone calls in a sudden cardiac arrest. Using the online database, a 9-1-1 dispatcher can direct the caller or bystander to retrieve the nearest device and instruct its use until paramedics arrive.
