About the special situation fund for individuals
With recently announced federal and provincial COVD-19 programs and the gradual reopening of businesses, services and public spaces through Renew PEI, Together, the special situation fund for individuals closed on May 8, 2020.
All current applications will be processed and Islanders with approved applications will be contacted directly.

The COVID-19 Special Situation Fund provided up to $1,000 to Islanders who have experienced urgent income loss as a result of COVID-19 and are not eligible for other federal and provincial funding support. This was a temporary program put in place to support Islanders that have been significantly affected by COVID-19 and have an urgent need.
Am I eligible?
You may be eligible for help if your income has been impacted between March 16, 2020 and June 16, 2020 due to the COVID-19 public health state of emergency in Prince Edward Island, and you are:
- over the age of 16, and
- a PEI resident for tax purposes as of December 31, 2019, and
- not eligible for EI.
You can only apply once.
This program is only for people who aren't eligible for other federal and provincial government programs, such as EI, social assistance, and COVID-19 emergency funding programs. If you are eligible for other programs or have applied for any other programs, you should wait to hear back from those programs before applying for this one.
Note – accessing the employee $100 gift card program does not preclude people from accessing the special situations fund.
You must keep supporting documents proving your eligibility for the program for three years following approval to the program for audit and compliance purposes. Learn more about eligibility at Special Situation Fund - eligibility and collection of information.
What happens after I apply?
A special committee will review the applications to ensure they meet the criteria. A representative may be in touch if there are further questions. If the application is successful, we will ask you to provide information to allow direct deposit into your bank account.
