Seniors Community Meal Grant

The Seniors Community Meal Grant helps offset food costs to create new community meal programs, or increase capacity in existing community meal programs for seniors. Meals must be free for seniors, and can be provided at a one-time event or at re-occurring events.

Is my organization eligible to apply?

The following are examples of organizations that are eligible to apply:

  • Senior-serving clubs and organizations
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Community-based coalitions and networks
  • Municipal governments
  • Organizations that support Indigenous peoples

Meals must be prepared in a location with a valid provincial food permit. Organizations must also receive prior approval from facilities used to prepare and host meals.

How many applications can my organization submit?

Organizations can submit one application, requesting up to $5,000.00.

Is there anything that my organization needs to do before applying?

Prior to applying, organizations should review the Seniors Community Meal Grant Funding Guidelines (2025-2026).  Applications that do not adhere to the guidelines will not be considered for funding.

How can my organization apply?

Organizations must use the Seniors Community Meal Grant Application (2025-2026) template.

Completed applications can be submitted by:

  • Mail: Seniors Community Meal Grant (Attn: Katie Duffy), Department of Social Development and Seniors, 2nd Floor Jones Building 11 Kent Street, Charlottetown PE, C1A 7N8.

When is the deadline for applications?

Applications for the 2025-2026 funding cycle must be submitted before Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 4:00pm.

When will I know if my organization is receiving funding?

Due to the review process and the anticipated number of applications, it is expected that organizations will know if they are receiving funding by July 2025.

How do I find out where community meals are being held?

Once funding is distributed, a list of community meals will be created and posted on this webpage.

For any questions or to register, seniors are encouraged to contact the organization hosting the meal directly.
