Bloyce Thompson was first elected as the MLA for District 8, Stanhope–Marshfield, in the 2019 general election and was appointed Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Minister of Agriculture. He was re-elected on April 3, 2023, and subsequently served as Deputy Premier, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Minister of Agriculture. On December 12, 2025, he was sworn in as the 35th Premier of Prince Edward Island, a role he held until February 9, 2026.
A third-generation dairy farmer and businessman from Eastside Farms in Frenchfort, Thompson has long been active in the agricultural community. He has represented the dairy industry locally, nationally, and internationally, sharing his expertise in bovine livestock breeding in the United States, Japan, Portugal, and other countries.
As Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General, Thompson worked to strengthen public safety resources, enhance the justice system, and improve access to justice for Islanders.
He is a graduate of Dalhousie Agricultural College and has served on the genetic evaluation board of the Canadian Dairy Network and the board of Dairy Farmers of PEI. He has also contributed to his community through coaching with the Sherwood/Parkdale Minor Baseball Association, serving as vice-president of Old Home Week, and serving as an elder in the York-Covehead United pastoral charge.
Bloyce and his wife, Terri, are the proud parents of three children.
