Pesticide Vendor Certificate

Any business that is licensed to sell pesticides must employ staff that have a pesticide vendor certificate. Two types of certificates are available:

  • a domestic pesticide vendor certificate for employees of businesses that sell domestic class pesticides, and
  • a non-domestic pesticide vendor certificate for employees of businesses that sell commercial, restricted, or manufacturing class pesticides.

What are the requirements?

To obtain a domestic or non-domestic pesticide vendor certificate, you must:

  • be 18 years of age; and
  • successfully complete a written exam (mark of 75 per cent or higher).

What are the fees?

$75. There is no HST. Make cheques payable to the Minister of Finance. Certificates are valid for a maximum period of five years.

How do I renew my certificate?

You must successfully re-write the exam to renew your certificate.

Training

Training material is available for individuals wishing to study for a domestic or non-domestic pesticide certificate exam. Training materials for vendors are available for free. Printed copies can be purchased from the Department of Communities, Land and Environment.
