Early Childhood Centre Licensing
The PEI Early Learning and Child Care Board is responsible for licensing and licence renewal of early learning and child care programs according to the Early Learning and Child Care Act.
The board also monitors and investigates complaints.
What do I need to apply for an Early Childhood Centre Licence?
Please include with your completed application (see application forms under Resources):
- Business plan (see the application form for a template)
- Service Plan (see the application form for a template)
- Letter from the Municipality stating the property is correctly zoned for a licensed child care facility
- Approved declaration for registration of a business name from the Office of the Attorney General
Submit your application and documents to the Early Learning and Child Care Board for review.

There is a fee. Please refer to application.
What happens when I submit my application?
Once your application is received, the Early Learning and Child Care Board will arrange for a property inspection by the Fire Marshal’s Office and Division of Environmental Health.
