Anti-Racism Microgrants

The Anti-Racism Table invites individuals, youths, community organizations, and stakeholders to apply for Anti-Racism Microgrants to complete projects and initiatives that promote anti-racism on Prince Edward Island (PEI). The fund will support the anti-racism mandate to identify and dismantle systemic barriers for racialized and Indigenous residents in PEI.

The Anti-Racism Microgrant funds small-scale, community-based actions or supplements funding for larger-scale anti-racism projects that address systemic racial barriers in organizational and institutional structures and reflect PEI's unique demographic landscape, to advance systemic change and build capacity. 

Who Can Apply

The following groups and organizations located in PEI are eligible to apply by 11:59 p.m. on October 2^nd, 2026:

• Youth aged 14–24 years;
• Individuals aged above 24 years;
• Community groups and grassroots organizations;
• Non-profit organizations and boards;
• Professional associations.

Preference will be given to applications that are primarily from, led by, or serve racialized and Indigenous individuals, youths, or organizations.

Eligible Project

Eligible projects must align with one or more of the following systemic goals:

• Identifying and dismantling systemic racism through institutional reform, policy change, or organizational capacity development;
• Strengthening organizational capacity within institutions and civic bodies focused on anti-racism;
• Empowering BIPOC communities through coalition-building, advocacy, and community-led research;
• Public outreach, engagement, and community-based anti-racism advocacy; and
• Strengthening BIPOC community networks, leadership, and civic participation.

Eligible Areas for Funding

Eligible projects must address racial barriers for systemic changes in PEI, which may include the following activities, amongst others:

• Develop anti-racism policies, training programs, or accountability frameworks for PEI organizations and institutions.
• Conduct community-based research on the impact of systemic racism in employment, housing, health, education, or public services.
• Build advocacy tools or resources to support racialized Islanders in navigating and reforming institutional systems.
• Encourage BIPOC youth representation and participation in agencies, boards, and commissions.
• Executive or leadership-level anti-racism training within organizations.
• Initiatives that document racial disparities and propose evidence-based policy recommendations.
• Hire staff to administer a systemic or intercultural initiative.
• Design and facilitate intercultural dialogue, exchange, or trust-building programming while integrating systemic change components.

Funding Streams

There are three (3) microgrant streams that youth, individuals and organizations can apply to for systemic change project funding:

1. Youth Applicants (aged 14–24 years) can request funding ranging from $100 - $1,500
2. Individuals (aged above 25 years) can request funding ranging from $100 - $2,000
3. Non-Profit Organizations and Professional Associations can request funding ranging from $1000 - $5,000

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on or before October 2^nd, 2026. Late applications will not be considered. 

To apply, download the Microgrant Guidelines and Criteria and the Microgrant Scoring Matrix, then use them to complete the downloaded Microgrant Application Form and the Microgrant Timeline and Budget Worksheets. Upload and submit the completed ‘Microgrant Application Form’ and ‘Microgrant Timeline and Budget Worksheets’ online through the ‘Microgrant Application Webform.’ 

The Anti-Racism Office, in partnership with community organizations, offers Microgrant-writing workshops in Kings, Prince, and Queens Counties. Please check the website regularly or contact the Anti-Racism Office for more information about workshop dates and registration.
