John J. Sark Memorial Scholarships

The scholarship program was established in the name of distinguished Mi'kmaw Islander John James Sark. He earned a post-secondary education at St. Dunstan's University, and was the Island's first Mi'kmaw teacher. He was also recognized by the Mi’kmaq community when the Lennox Island elementary school was named in his honour, the John J. Sark Memorial School.
