For International medical specialists

Visit the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for information on how to obtain eligibility to write specialist exams. If you already have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification (FRCPC), visit PEI specialist career opportunities.

For International family medicine physicians

Visit the Medical Council of Canada for information about qualifying exams. In most cases, one to two years of independent clinical experience in Canada is required.

Note: Observership and volunteer work in Canada does not count toward independent clinical practice experience.
