Community Food Fund (2026-2027)

The Department of Social Development and Seniors (SDS) is currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 Community Food Fund, continuing its commitment to strengthening community-based food supports across Prince Edward Island. Through this funding opportunity, SDS will continue partnering with community-based organizations that are making a meaningful difference in addressing food insecurity and improving access to nutritious food for island residents. 

Who is eligible to apply? 

Individuals or organizations providing the following services are eligible to apply: 

• Food Banks; 
• Community Fridges; 
• Food Cupboards; 
• Food Pantries; and
• Food Hampers.

This includes community clubs or organizations, community-based coalitions or networks, and municipalities. 

Soup kitchens and meal programs are not eligible for Community Food Fund. 

What is the funding limit?

Applicants whose projects are selected for funding may receive awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on project proposal and available resources. Please note that all applications are subject to review, and funding is not guaranteed.

How do I apply for this funding? 

Prior to applying, organizations are strongly encouraged to review the Community Food Fund guidelines. Applications that do not adhere to the guidelines will not be considered for funding. Organizations can only submit one application. 

To apply for funding, applicants must use the Community Food Fund application form.  This application form includes questions regarding organizational information, the service delivery model (including photos of the facility), and financial information (including a proposed spending plan). Applicants may also be contacted for additional information.

When is the deadline to submit my application? 

Applications must be received by 4 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026.
