Community Food Fund helping to feed Islanders
To help improve food security across Prince Edward Island, 36 community organizations will receive a total of $150,000 in provincial funding.
The Community Food Fund, launched in November, supports the purchase of food for services such as food banks, community fridges, food cupboards, pantries and hampers.
“These organizations are working tirelessly to help Islanders have access to the food they need. They are the heart of our communities, and their efforts remind us of what it means to care for one another.”
— Minister of Social Development and Seniors Barb Ramsay
Trinity United Church in Summerside is among the 36 organizations receiving support from the fund.
“Trinity United Church Summerside sees the immediate need to address food security in the Greater Summerside community,” said treasurer, Duncan McKillop. “The PEI Community Food Fund, along with our congregants and many community donors, are attempting to address this ever-increasing need.”
