Do you know an outstanding Island senior?
Nominations for the annual Senior Islanders of the Year awards are being accepted until July 20.
The annual awards recognize the significant contributions of Island seniors in community life including: volunteerism, artistic achievement, fund raising, community participation, career achievements, fitness/recreation and other activities.
"The Senior Islanders of the Year award highlights the important role that Island seniors play in community and family life," Family and Human Services Minister Tina Mundy said. "These awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions older adults make and recognize leaders and mentors in our communities."
To be eligible, nominees must be:
• a current resident of Prince Edward Island;
• aged 65 or older; and
• willing to be nominated.
Nominations will be reviewed by members of the Prince Edward Island Seniors' Secretariat.
Vance Bridges, Evelyn MacLure, Mary Ann Nelligan, Jack Sorensen, and Chris Mills were honored with the award in 2017.
