Grants help Island girls and women

Several community groups will be supported in their work to promote the rights of Island girls and women.

Interministerial Women’s Secretariat Grants totaling nearly $70,000 will go to seven diverse organizations across Prince Edward Island in 2017.

“There are so many community groups seeking to help Island women with needs of all kinds,” said Minister Responsible for the Status of Women Paula Biggar. “Whether addressing sexual violence, accessibility, or economic challenges, each of these groups helps make our province a better place for girls and women.”

The annual Interministerial Women’s Secretariat Grants help organizations that:
• provide direct services and programs for the benefit of women and girls in Prince Edward Island;
• support projects that enhance awareness, education and social action on women’s legal, health,
social and economic equality; and/or
• support the capacity of women’s organizations that promote women’s equality through advocacy, research, and policy development.
