Instant energy-saving rebates available Island-wide

Islanders will soon receive money back instantly when they buy energy-efficient products at retailers across the province.
The efficiencyPEI Instant Savings Program provides in-store rebates on select energy efficient products such as LED light bulbs and thermostats. Rebates will be automatically applied at the cash register.
“This is the first point-of-sale energy efficiency program that has been delivered in the province, and these savings are a great opportunity for Islanders to make smart energy choices for their home.” said Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar, whose department includes efficiencyPEI. “From smart thermostats to washing machines, instant rebates are an easy way to encourage energy conservation in Island households.”
The first instant savings campaign will run from October 12 to November 10 at retailers across the Island. In addition, instant rebates on energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines will now be available year round.
“ENERGY STAR® products and appliances are a key part of helping reduce a home’s energy consumption,” said Mike Proud, manager of efficiencyPEI. “Instant Savings will complement our existing suite of energy savings programs and make it easier for Islanders to make energy efficient choices.”
