Montrose community hall gets extensive upgrades
Residents of Montrose in western PEI have a bigger and better place to enjoy social gatherings and activities thanks to major expansions and upgrades to their local community hall.
The renovations added 16 feet to the facility and include new washrooms, kitchen, appliances and tables and chairs.
“I am proud to know that the Community Revitalization Program is supporting initiatives such as this,” said Minister of Rural and Regional Development Patrick Murphy. “It is important that our local community clubs receive the support they deserve to keep our rural communities thriving.”
The residents of Montrose host a wide variety of events at the hall such as public and club meetings, pot-lucks, family reunions, yard sales and holiday events for the community.
“We are pleased and thankful for the beautiful expansion allowing us to have comfortable seating for events," said Bessie Pridham, president of the Montrose Community Club Inc. “We can also have larger gatherings and invite more local talent to perform at the hall.”
The project was funded through the Federal National Gas Tax, the Provincial Department of Rural and Regional Development and the Rural Municipality of Greenmount-Montrose.
