New business navigator is here to help

January 12, 2021

Government’s business navigator is ready to help guide business owners and entrepreneurs through the various provincial regulations associated with starting, owning, operating, and growing a business.

The role of the business navigator is to ensure business owners and entrepreneurs are connected with the right resources and information to help them make decisions regarding their business. The business navigator will use their network of internal government partners to find answers and information on topics, such as:

  • registering a business
  • determining permit, license and inspection requirements; and
  • finding resources to support and grow your business.

In 2020, our department reviewed legislation and regulations to measure the regulatory burden on Island businesses. We know for many business owners, particularly new entrepreneurs, finding their way through all the regulatory obligations is challenging and we wanted to make it easier for businesses. That's why we decided to create a business navigator to support business owners, so they can spend less time finding the rules and paperwork that apply to them and more time growing their businesses.

- Minister of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture, Matthew MacKay.

Government will continue to review their regulatory requirements to find more ways to help Islanders through the process.
