Parks users advised to exercise caution
Provincial Parks officials are assessing damage to several facilities across the province after high winds downed trees and affected at least one shoreline.
Basin Head beach in eastern Kings County experienced coastal erosion especially along either side of the run. An initial assessment of the wharves discovered no significant structural damage. However, officials are asking that individuals avoid that area until a further assessment can be completed.
Several trails in the Brookvale Nordic Centre are being cleared of downed trees and debris. Officials say it will be at least Sunday before trails will reopen and be groomed for users. Visit Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park at Brookvale or Brookvale's Facebook page for updates.
Officials are also surveying damage from downed trees at Bonshaw Hills Trail. An initial assessment shows only minor damage but trail users are advised to use caution and report any issues to Provincial Parks at (902) 368-4791 or sdarbing@gov.pe.ca.
Officials will be touring other facilities in the coming days to determine if any further damage occurred during the recent high winds.
