Statement by Minister of Education and Early Years on the last day of classes
Today, the Minister of Education and Early Years Natalie Jameson issued the following statement to congratulate students and staff on completing another successful school year:
“As we bring the school year to a close, I would like to take a moment to highlight the wonderful milestones so many of you have reached on your education journey this year.
From our youngest and newest learners entering our Island school system for the first time to our high school graduates ready for their next adventure, each one of you has made a meaningful and memorable contribution to our school community.
You’ve tackled academic challenges, navigated social dynamics, discovered new interests, and for some, honed your talents in the arts, music or sports; all of which are no small feat. Today, and every day, take pride in these accomplishments and let them carry you through the summer days.
To our high school graduates, this is a memorable moment as one chapter ends and a new one is about to begin. Take a moment to celebrate you and your accomplishments. While packing up your backpack for the last time, hold on to the lessons you’ve learned inside and outside the classroom, cherish the friendships and memories you’ve made, and know that the best is yet to come. Every step forward along your journey is a step towards reaching your fullest potential.
To all educators and staff, our Island schools would not be what they are without you. Your professionalism during and beyond class hours as you adapt to the ebb and flow of every school year has not gone unnoticed. We see the pride you take in preparing your classrooms in late summer and the dedication in every lesson and activity you plan to support the success of our young learners. These efforts are a testament to your unwavering commitment to their education and their wellbeing. The success of our students are your successes, and it is important that we recognize the direct impact your influence has on Island youth.
With summer now knocking on our doors, I encourage you all to take this time to relax and recharge, doing what you love most with friends and family. We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall for another great year of learning, discovery and growth."
