Statement on the passing of Anthony Francis “Tony” Carter

September 29, 2016

The following is a statement from Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac:

“On behalf of the province of Prince Edward Island, I wish to express my condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Tony Carter.

“Mr. Carter, a fisherman out of Red Head Harbour in Morell, was a leader in the Island fishing community.  He was a tireless supporter of the industry who worked hard to represent the harvesters of Prince Edward Island.

“Tony was a PEI Fishermen’s Association (PEIFA) board member, president of the Eastern King’s Fishermen’s Association (EKFA), and served as chair of the PEI Fishermen’s Association Groundfish Advisory Board.  His ability to bring people together most certainly had a positive impact on our entire fishing community.

“Tony Carter will be remembered for his calm demeanor and thoughtful approach to finding solutions to challenges in the industry, and his presence in the community will be sorely missed.”
