Trans Canada Highway extension update – May 7-13

Motorists are asked to pay attention to traffic signs and use all available lanes when passing through the Trans Canada Highway construction zone between Charlottetown and Cornwall.

In the coming week, construction on Phase 2A of the highway extension project will focus on water work at the North River intersection and improvements to the North River Bridge:

• two lanes of traffic will be maintained during the morning and evening commute periods (eastbound from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and westbound from 4 to 5:30 p.m.); and

• motorists should use alternative routes when entering and leaving Charlottetown, especially during morning and evening commuting hours.

Drivers are asked to be alert and to operate with concern for the safety of workers, pedestrians and their fellow motorists. The Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy appreciates the patience of the traveling public during delays caused by construction.
