Equestrian Pilot Project
Starting July 1, 2025, equestrian riders will once again have access to designated rural portions of the Confederation Trail until October 31, 2025.
Where are horses allowed on the Confederation Trail?
Designated sections of the Confederation Trail are in rural areas with a lower volume of traffic and enough parking for multiple horse trailers.

Safety tips for sharing the Confederation Trail
If you meet a horse while walking or cycling on the Confederation Trail, move to the right and greet the rider in a friendly, relaxed tone. Make sure pets are on a leash, avoid making sudden movements or loud noises. When approaching a horse, leave as much room as possible, call out and wait for the rider to acknowledge you.
