Installing a heat pump can help you save money on your energy bills and make your home more comfortable. Islanders with an annual household net income of $100,000 or less may be eligible for a free heat pump and electric water heater for their home, and those who heat with oil may be eligible for heat pumps systems and other benefits, based on household size with an income threshold of up to $129,000 for larger families. Islanders with a low-income may be eligible for a free electric hot water heater for their homes. To be eligible, you must have an annual household income of $100,000 or less, you must own your home, and it must be your principle residence. Planting and tending trees is one of the tools that can be used to combat rising greenhouse gas levels because trees use and store tremendous amounts of carbon over their lifespan. This year the Province of Prince Edward Island is seeking to return approximately 175 ha of old fields and marginal lands to forest cover by planting native tree species suited to those sites.
