About the Animal Welfare Appeal Board
The Animal Welfare Appeal Board is an independent body that hears appeals regarding animal seizures, orders and decisions about licensing. It provides a fair and equitable process independent of the Department of Agriculture.
What is the process to make an appeal?
Anyone who is discontent with an order or decision may make an appeal to the Board in accordance with the regulations of the Animal Welfare Act and the procedures outlined. An appeal must be made within seven (7) days after a person is served with an order or a decision.
Who serves on the appeal board?
Members of the board are appointed from among individuals who apply through Engage PEI.
