When PEI Burger Love returns for its 7th year, it will be the beefiest to date with 84 restaurants vying for the title of Prince Edward Island’s ‘Most Loved Burger’.

The multi-award winning campaign follows up last year’s record breaking event where there was $2.2 million in burger sales alone, and over 163,170 burgers sold or more burgers than Islanders.

PEI Burger Love is a month-long celebration of 100% Island Beef, created by Fresh Media and presented in partnership with PEI Cattle Producers and the PEI Department of Agriculture & Forestry.

“The anticipation and excitement around Burger Love grows each year which is a testament to the quality of our Island food product, the hard work of our Island’s cattle producers and the reputation of Prince Edward Island as Canada’s Food Island,” said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac. “The Province of Prince Edward Island will continue to support creative initiatives that help grow our Island food sector and strengthen our local economy.”

Participating Burger Love restaurants have each created new signature culinary burgers with the hero of each burger continuing to be Island Beef. The public is encouraged to go out and taste these gourmet burger creations, and then go the website to 'rate their love' for their favourite burgers they’ve tried. The votes and ratings are then tabulated to crown PEI's Most Loved Burger at the end of the campaign.

“On behalf of all the PEI farm families who work hard everyday to produce quality products, I invite Islanders to experience the fun and enjoy some of this year’s tasty Burger Love creations,” said PEI Cattle Producers' Vice Chair Jeremy Stead. “Our farmers appreciate Islander’s continued support of buying locally produced products.”

This year also introduces the ‘Give Back Burger’. This new initiative will see 36 of the participating restaurants proudly donating $1 for each PEI Burger Love burger they sell in April to the United Way of PEI.  All donations to the United Way stay on Prince Edward Island, and every dollar raised through the Give Back Burger will fund future programs that increase access to local and affordable food for Islanders.

“As we enter our seventh year for PEI Burger Love, we’re extremely happy to announce the new Give Back Burger,” added Melody Dover, President of Fresh Media. “We’re appreciative of the restaurants who decided to be a part of the initiative, and we know this will greatly benefit our Island communities through The United Way of PEI.”

The full list of PEI Burger Love creations will be unveiled on March 31st, and the campaign ends until April 30th. For all the beefy details on PEI Burger Love, plus for details on the numerous prizes to be won over the month, visit  PEI Burger Love.
