Organizations and communities that work to improve the lives of Island seniors can now apply for provincial government funding.

Applications are now being accepted for 2017-18 PEI Seniors’ Secretariat grants worth up to $5,000 per project, with preference given to intergenerational projects, those that promote positive mental health, elder abuse awareness, or projects that reduce social isolation.

To apply, visit Seniors' Secretariat Grant or call the toll-free seniors line at 1-866-770-0588.

“The PEI Seniors’ Secretariat works to improve the lives of seniors across Prince Edward Island,” said Family and Human Services Minister Tina Mundy. “I invite individuals and organizations to help continue the important work of the Secretariat with the funding available through these grants.”

Groups eligible for funding include non-profit organizations, community-based coalitions, networks, municipal governments, band/tribal councils, and other Aboriginal organizations in Prince Edward Island.

The PEI Seniors’ Secretariat achieves progress in its work plan through collaboration and funding other organizations to undertake project work. It connects with seniors and works with government and other organizations on issues important to seniors.

The secretariat has three primary roles and responsibilities which include: providing policy, program and service advice to government and community; public awareness and education; and research.  For more information visit About the Seniors' Secretariat.
